Letter from the Founders

The process of becoming a therapist, as well as the continuing education, especially in programs like those available at the Texas Institute of Professional Psychology, has an immense potential of being absolutely transformational, both personally and professionally. You may not feel that way during a program, as training is both rigorous and demanding. Nevertheless, the potential is there. We have found our lives as professional psychologists and mental health professionals — in the counseling room and the academic classroom — so very rewarding, as a result of such training.

The process of becoming and being mental health professionals has not inoculated us from the inevitable challenges of life. Seen and unseen, public and private, the mystery of life seems faithful to bring challenges at best, devastation at most difficult. We are no more perfect now than we were before we starting our training. That much is true. Nevertheless, we are deeply grateful for the ways our training has assisted us in attending to the wounds of the world—ours included—and has sustained the challenging work of loving God and loving our neighbors as ourselves. This training has not made us better, or have less faults, as much as it has opened our hearts more and more, to our own humanity, the humanity of others, and the never-ending Love of God.

We are delighted that you are interested in TIPP, and look forward to discovering how our paths may cross, on this side or the other.
